The streamer has finally confirmed a Season 2 for the Lord of Dreams.
After what has seemed like an interminable wait for such a high-profile show, Deadline have broken the news that The Sandman is getting a second season.
Apparently, the confirmation came after creator Neil Gaiman quashed cancellation rumours emanating from a fake twitter account.
The show, adapting Gaiman’s own iconic comic book series debuted in August. After consuming those ten episodes, plus the double-header bonus episode, we have been waiting patiently for confirmation of more.
With Tom Sturridge in the lead, the show enjoys a starry cast. While we’re not sure who might return, we’d expect to see Vivienne Acheampong (Lucienne), Gwendoline Christie (Lucifer) and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Death). Plus, to hear Patton Oswalt who voices Matthew the Raven. Hopefully there will be a return for Jenna Coleman’s terrific Johanna Constantine too
The Dream Continues
Gaiman himself took to Twitter, confirming the announcement saying “…the thing we were all hoping would happen… has indeed happened...” :

In a piece on Netflix’s Tudum fan site, Gaiman said:
“There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them (not to mention more members of the Endless Family to meet). “Nobody is going to be happier about this than the Sandman cast and crew: They are the biggest Sandman fans there are. And now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…”
Showrunner Allan Heinberg continued:
“I’m profoundly grateful to Netflix and to Warner Bros. — to the artists and crew who made our first 11 episodes so magical — and to the extraordinary fans of The Sandman, who advocated tirelessly — endlessly — on the show’s behalf and made it possible for us to continue telling Morpheus’ story.”
Naturally, we’ll keep you posted on The Sandman Season 2.
