Earlier this week we brought you news that Lauren Cohan’s contract with The Walking Dead is coming to an end, and that a new deal would have to be struck if Maggie were to stay around.
Well, that outcome is looking less and less likely, as Cohan has now signed on for ABC pilot Whiskey Cavalier amid contract negotiations with the AMC zombie series.
According to Vulture, negotiations are regarding her salary, and this plan-B could effectively ‘convince’ the network that she’s worth a payrise. Otherwise, expect Maggie to be Walker-chow come the season eight finale.

19/02/2018: The Walking Dead EP ‘hopeful’ Lauren Cohan will return, and so are we
Enquiring fans have wanted to know – will Maggie be back for season nine of The Walking Dead, or does the end of Lauren Cohan’s contract mean the end for one of the series’ longest-serving survivors?
As we know, no one is safe on the show, and Maggie’s death sure would pack an emotional wallop, but thankfully executive producer Scott Gimple is on hand to put our minds somewhat at ease.
“I’m incredibly hopeful,” he told TVLine. ““These things do happen in TV. But we’re talking.”
He added: “Lauren is an actor who has such intuition and such power. So yeah, hopefully, it all works out.”
The Walking Dead is currently airing its eigth season.
