The Witcher season 2 wrap finally arrives as UK filming completes
There have been multiple reported delays, but we now have The Witcher season 2 wrap and Netflix has released a short video to mark the occasion. It’s a behind the scenes piece as does give some idea of the scale of the production team and a sense of just what was involved in managing flexible schedules and various filming protocols in this Covid-aware time. It’s something to celebrate, and Variety has more on this in their piece on the subject.
Showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich had nothing but praise for the team:
“We have filmed at some incredible locations including Fountains Abbey, Blea Tarn, Hodge Close, Frensham Ponds, and of course, our comforting home at Arborfield Studios. We’ve assembled the best British talent and crew who have been passionate, professional and brilliant partners through such a complex and unprecedented filming experience. Now we can’t wait for everyone to see all of the hard work that has gone into this production.”
If you need reminding how season 1 finished, we have this logline:
“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”
There’s a lot of post-production now, but we’d like to feel a late 2021 release is entirely possible. We’ll keep you informed. Until then you can (re)watch The Witcher season 1 now on Netflix.
