News to gladden our hearts and lighten our wallets!
It has announced that both Wallace and Gromit and The X-Files are to become immortalised as new Lego sets.
Both were fan submissions to the recent “Build Your Nostalgia: ’90s Throwback” competition which gave fan builders with opportunity to design new Lego builds, with the chance for their work to become official new sets.
The competition ran with two categories – larger sets (1,000 to 5,000 pieces in size), and smaller builds (200 and 1,000 pieces). Each category then came down to a shortlist of five before to a fan vote.
In the larger category, user WetWired’s The X Files: The Truth is Out There build won with its forest scene above a recreation of Mulder’s basement office.

The smaller category winner sees stop motion heroes Wallace and Gromit transformed into brick form by Ideas user Pidelium. Good job, lad!

The set captures them in action on their motorcycle and sidecar from their Oscar winning tale ‘A Close Shave’.
As Lego Ideas submissions, both now go into development. Naturally, we’ve no idea of prices and release dates yet – we’ll keep you posted.
