The official trailer for Things Heard and Seen is now available, and the film itself is on Netflix later this month
Coming on April 29, Things Heard and Seen has the usual short synopsis from Netflix:
A Manhattan couple moves to a historic hamlet in the Hudson Valley and come to discover that their marriage has a sinister darkness, one that rivals their new home’s history. Based on the acclaimed novel by Elizabeth Brundage…
The cast includes: Amanda Seyfried (Mama Mia!) and James Norton (Grantchester, McMafia). Despite all appearances, we understand the focus shouldn’t be on the horror elements, but on the story of their marriage. It also stars Natalie Dyer (Stranger Things), Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), Alex Neustaedter (Colony), and F. Murray Abraham ( Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet and numerous film and TV appearances).
The writer-directors Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman spoke in some length to Entertainment about their film in January, and it’s worth reading for their views on the story narrative and the casting. They characterise the novel as a literary ghost story in the style of Turn of the Screw, as opposed to horror. From the interview as a whole we get the sense this is very important distinction to them, and is reflected throughout the project.
You can watch the trailer now and catch Things Heard & Seen on April 29.
Update [2 Apr] — on the Netflix Film Club channel on YouTube there’s a new Watch This Before You See… video for this film, it adds to what we already reported.
