For British viewers, the title Dead Ringers recalls a sketch show where Jon Culshaw showcased his Tom Baker impersonation.

However, it’s also the title of a high-profile six-part series coming to Prime Video in April. Starring Rachel Weisz in dual roles, Dead Ringers is a modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller.

In Dead Ringers, Rachel Weisz plays the double-lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle. The twins share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront.

Weisz also serves as an executive producer for the limited series, which is created, written, and executive produced by Alice Birch (Normal People, Succession). The series’ ensemble cast includes Britne Oldford (The Umbrella Academy), Poppy Liu (Hacks), Michael Chernus (Severance), Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty) and Emily Meade (The Leftovers).

The directors are Sean Durkin, Karyn Kusama, Karena Evans and Lauren Wolkstein. Dead Ringers is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Annapurna Television.
