Tully looks like it could be something really special. This upcoming comedy flick heralds from writer Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman, the same duo that brought us Juno and Young Adult. Their star from the latter of those two films, Charlize Theron, returns here to tackle the topic of parenting.
Theron’s Marlo and Mark Duplass’ Craig are the proud parents of a new born baby, but they soon find that they are missing out on ungodly amounts of sleep and losing sight of their own identities. Enter Tully (played by Black Mirror, Blade Runner 2049 and The Martian alum Mackenzie Davis), a ‘night nanny’ who will look after the baby overnight, allowing Marlo and Craig to catch up on some long-overdue shuteye.
Judging by the trailer, Tully won’t just be helping with the baby. At a point where Theron’s Marlo is struggling to come to terms with what her life has become, Davis’ Tully seems to be an absolute godsend: not just a nanny, but a friend, and someone who cares about Marlo’s wellbeing and happiness.
Without further ado, here’s the brilliant trailer for Tully:
Tully has a UK release date of April 20th, 2018.
