The Vicky McClure-led show about police bomb disposal officers was itv’s best performing drama of 2022.
ITV have announced the start of filming on a second series of Trigger Point.
The show, which drew an impressive average of 9.5m viewers per episode, stars Vicky McClure. She plays Lana ‘Wash’ Washington, a bomb disposal officer who works for the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad (the EXPO team).
Returning alongside Vicky McClure (Without Sin) are Nabil Elouahabi (Unforgotten) as Hass, Eric Shango (Suspicion) as Danny and Mark Stanley (Happy Valley) as DI Thom Youngblood, Plus, Kerry Godliman (After Life) as Sonya Reeves, Kris Hitchen (Four Lives) as John and Kevin Eldon (Sanditon) as Jeff.
Series 2 adds Natalie Simpson (North Sea Connection) as DS Helen Morgan, Julian Ovenden (Bridgerton) playing Commander John Francis and Tomiwa Edun as Alex (Young Wallander).
Trigger Point Series 2
The new six-part series is created by Daniel Brierley, who writes with Simon Ashdown and Amanda Duke. Here’s the synopsis:
Lana is just back from secondment training Ukrainian bomb disposal teams, but has not returned to active duty. She is giving a routine talk to security officers from major financial institutions about the issues surrounding bomb centred terrorism, when there is a bomb attack in the heart of the city. Lana is closest to the incident, but is she ready to take it on?

Trigger Point Series 2 will air on ITV1 and ITVX. The series is produced by HTM Television which is co-owned by Jed Mercurio and Hat Trick Productions. The executive producers are Mark Redhead, Jessica Sharkey and Vicky McClure, with Jed Mercurio and Jimmy Mulville.
The series producer is Mat Chaplin (The Last Kingdom), the directors are Jon East (Bloodlands) and Audrey Cooke (DI Ray).
