There’s a lot of Wheel of Time NYCC news to absorb — we bring you the details
Amazon has been busy at NYCC, and that includes updates from soon to arrive (November 19) epic fantasy The Wheel of Time. We have cast announcements for season 2 and a trailer.
Showrunner Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hemlock Grove) announced new cast members for Season Two. Ceara Coveney (Dad, The Amazing World of Emma) will join as a series regular, portraying fan-favorite character Elayne Trakand, along with Natasha O’Keeffe (Peaky Blinders, Misfits) and Meera Syal (The Kumars at No. 42, Broadchurch), who also join the show in undisclosed series-regular roles.
There was also an exclusive clip revealed, and if you don’t yet know what the series is about, the clip also has a tiny piece of the overall story:
Set in an epic world where only certain women are allowed to access magic, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organisation called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers…
Of course the story is bigger than that; much bigger. The Wheel of Time is one of the most popular and enduring fantasy series of all-time, with over 90 million books sold. There’s more information in the announcement, and make sure you have the date written in bold in your calendar.
