‘Yonderland’ Season 2 Episode 7 review: ‘The Last Fahl’

Posted Filed under

The list of heroic tasks Debbie must contend with is seemingly never-ending, and this week in Yonderland, she’s tasked with saving the last of the delicious Fahl.

Hunted to near extinction for being really, properly moreish, the Fahl now lives in privileged comfort in a village enclosure, but Debbie discovers another Fahl hiding in the woods.

Now, it’s up to her to convince the two Fahls to meet, and wait for nature to take its course – which would be a lovely happy ending, except that the two Fahls hate each other’s guts, and it’s clear that it would take a highly elaborate scheme involving another pretend monster and a cave and then an unexpected, actual monster, to get the pair anywhere near getting it on.

Meanwhile: hey, it’s Anthony Head! He’s playing Pete’s father, who’s come to fix the light in the cupboard. Pete’s become increasingly aware of the irregularities caused by Debbie’s double life, and his dad is there to impart some sage (probably not really) marital advice.

Yonderland 2

Negatus and his crew were very nearly about to stage a coup, if they could figure out where the silent p goes in the word. But Imperatrix has been planning something big that’s almost, but not quite revealed just before the credits roll, and Negatus finds himself booted out of his own lair. Harsh.

Whatever is to happen next to our heroes and villains? Will the Fahl find themselves back on the menu? What’s Imperatrix’s nefarious plan? Just what is it that Imperatrix is about to unleash? Is Pete ever going to find out exactly what Debbie’s been up to at flue-making class? Will Negatus attempt to cite Imperatrix as a reference on his CV? Can Nigel repair the electrics, or are they going to have to call an electrician?

I’ll just wait here impatiently until these questions are answered.
