Netflix’s new historical drama, Cursed, which will tackle the King Arthur legend has nabbed its lead actor in the form of 13 Reasons Why and Love, Simon star, Katherine Langford.
The story will told from the perspective of Nimue, described as “a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake”. It hails from comic book titan Frank Miller, known for Ronin, Sin City and 300, and Tom Wheeler, who co-penned the script to The LEGO Ninjago Movie.
Cursed is based on Wheeler and Miller’s joint novel, which will publish next year. Wheeler will write it while Miller illustrates and we imagine it’ll bow before the series premieres.
Regarding the project, Miller had this to say, “I have always been entranced by the mythological Arthur story — and by Nimue, in particular. It can be interpreted in any number of ways — from a delightful children’s story, as in The Sword in the Stone, to a terrifying interpretation like Excalibur. This tale represents an incredible opportunity and an exciting challenge for me as an illustrator, and I’m excited to collaborate on the story with Thomas Wheeler. I inherited a collection of antique children’s books from my mother, and I’ve always wanted to have a crack at it myself. This project is a dream come true.”
Cursed will comprise of 10 episodes and Netflix have ordered it straight-to-series. Zetna Fuentes has been confirmed as the director of the first couple of episodes.
We imagine Cursed will fall in 2019.
