The first five BBC radio series of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy are to become available on vinyl for the first time – with pre-orders going live today, 25th May aka ‘Towel Day’.

The first volume – Primary Phase – will be released in just over three months on 24th August and feature an exclusive sleeve note from author Neil Gaiman. Gaiman will also sign 500 exclusive art prints for the collectable volumes.

He said: “It makes me strangely happy that the original radio show is going to be available on vinyl.”

Following volumes will have similar perks from their own guest sleeve note author, and a ‘Making of’ essay by Jem Roberts – author of The Frood: The Authorised and Very Official History of Douglas Adams & The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

The radio series stars Peter Jones as The Book, Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, Geoffrey McGivern as Ford Prefect, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox, Susan Sheridan as Trillian, and Stephen Moore as Marvin the Paranoid Android.
