‘Doctor Who’ writer Moffat: ‘I should bring the Zygons back again’

Posted Filed under

The Zygons first appeared in 1975’s ‘Terror of the Zygons’ and returned in last weekend’s 50th anniversary special, ‘The Day of the Doctor’.

The showrunner told Doctor Who Magazine in the latest issue: “To be honest, I think I should bring the Zygons back again.”

Moffat explained: “‘The Day of the Doctor’ is all about the Doctor’s personal jeopardy, not really how terrifying the monsters are, but the Zygon design is so good – and the new ones can really move – that I’d like to bring them back again, make them proper frightening.”

He joked: “We’ve more to do with those Zygons now that we’ve got them in the cupboard at [the show’s studios in] Roath Lock.”

Series 8 begins filming at the end of next month and is expected to start airing on BBC One in August 2014.
