Moffat discusses ‘glorious’ pirate ‘Doctor Who’ ep

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has described Series 6’s pirate story as “so much fun”.

Starring Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) and model Lily Cole, ‘The Curse Of The Black Spot’ will air as Episode 3 of the new series.

Speaking to SFX in the magazine’s new issue, Moffat revealed: “Steve Thompson’s pirate one is just a glorious, hugely clever, very funny but again properly scary adventure.”

He continued: “I knew Steven from Sherlock and other projects, and he desperately wanted to do Doctor Who. So he brought all that wonderful giddy enthusiasm of someone who’s a hugely distinguished playwright and very much the coming man in television suddenly getting to play with Doctor Who. It’s just bursting with Doctor Who-ness, and it’s so much fun, and a wonderful contrast to our opener, which is quite intense.”

Series 6 of Doctor Who begins on Saturday 23rd April on BBC One.

Issue 208 of SFX magazine is available in shops today.
