Netflix has released the first image – and a little video – of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist at the heart of the streaming service’s upcoming series The Witcher.
The Witcher originated as a series of novels and short stories penned by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, in which “witchers” were monster hunters in a world filled with beasts. Sapkowski’s ideas have been adapted into numerous other guises over the years, including a much-loved trilogy of The Witcher games.
Henry Cavill, who’s an avid gamer when he’s not playing Superman in the DCEU or fighting Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, lobbied for the role of Geralt before being cast in the show.
Our first look at Cavill as Geralt comes highly anticipated, then, not just because its a megastar star playing a famous role but also because we know this megastar really wanted this famous role.
Without further ado, here’s the image…
And here’s a little video to go with it…
