Some familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have joined the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home, but be warned: you’ll only want to read this article if you don’t mind knowing a few people that survive the events of Avengers 4.
Still here? Fair enough! Let’s get down to business, then…
The familiar faces confirmed for this Spidey sequel are Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.
These S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were last seen disintegrating, thanks to the Thanos ‘Snap’, during the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War. The fact that they’re coming back for this Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel seems to confirm that they will somehow be revived during Avengers 4 (which will directly precede Far Frome Home in the grand MCU timeline).
Of course, Tom Holland’s Spidey also crumbled into dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, so the very existence of another Spider-Man movie was already providing proof that the Snap will be undone in one way or another.
Worryingly, though, there’s been no confirmation yet that Robert Downey Jnr’s Tony Stark – who mentored Spidey in Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming – will be showing up in this film. Will Mr Stark have to sacrifice himself to bring the Snap victims back to life? Gah, we hope not!
Spider-Man: Far From Home has an American release date of July 5th 2019. The film is shooting now in the UK, and we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
