Star Wars: Resistance – first trailer for Oscar Isaac’s animated series

The first trailer for Star Wars: Resistance has arrived on the web, with the animated teaser featuring Oscar Isaac as the voice of Poe Dameron alongside the familiar beeps and whistles of BB-8.

The show, which will replace Star Wars: Rebels as the incumbent animated series in Disney’s Star Wars slate, has been rendered with an anime-style animation feel.

The Star Wars: Resistance trailer makes it clear that the central narrative will feature Poe training up a new selection of ace pilots. You can watch the first-look promo video here…

Christopher Sean is voicing Kazuda Xiono, the young whippersnapper at the heart of the story, who is tasked with investigating the mysterious First Order. This is a chunk of the Star Wars narrative that takes places some months before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Dave Filoni, creative lead on The Clone Wars and Rebels, created the Resistance series. He is, however, too busy working on The Clone Wars revival to take the showrunner role on Resistance. In his stead, it looks like Amy Beth Christenson has taken on key behind-the-scenes roles as director and art director.

Star Wars: Resistance debuts on Disney XD on October 7th. We’ll bring you more news as we hear it.
