12 of Peter Capaldi’s best moments in ‘Doctor Who’ so far

Of course, you’ll undoubtedly have your own moments that aren’t featured. Don’t sit there like a pudding-brain, let us know what they are!

Dungeon Master (‘Robot of Sherwood’)

Doctor Who Robot of Sherwood dungeon

While Doctors Ten and Eleven would likely have enjoyed a chummy ‘teeth n’ chuckles’ bon-homie with the thigh-slapping Robin Hood, Twelve has no time for banter and Sherwood shenanigans. Lock the two disparate personalities up in a dungeon, and the fireworks fly as they verbally joust with one another.

It’s a terrific comedic exchange highlighting just how fun The Doctor’s irascible ego can be. It’s also definitely the first time in the show’s history that The Doctor has made a joke about a historical figure soiling themselves.

SuperDoc (‘Listen’)

Doctor Who Listen Danny

Capaldi’s Doctor often seems glacially uncaring (see above), so it’s all the more noticeable when he melts slightly and reminds us that he’s still just a very kind alien wearing a grumpy set of eyebrows.

He’s a father, he’s a grandfather. We often forget that. But as he tells poor frightened Rupert ‘Danny’ Pink that being afraid is a super-power, you get a lovely warm feeling inside.

Scrubbed-up (‘The Caretaker’)

Doctor Who The Caretaker Doctor

Of all the many jibes The Doctor makes about Clara’s appearance, the veiled insult ‘Clara! You look lovely today, have you had a wash?’, is probably the most back-handed.

Disruptive Influence (‘The Caretaker’)

Doctor Who The Caretaker Courtney

The rebel Time Lord of Gallifrey meets the rebel pupil of Coal Hill School, and the resulting back-and-forth is as charming as it is fun.

Future President Courtney Woods gives as good as she gets against the Caretaker, and it brings out a side that’s just as cheeky, but a lot more honest side than we’re used to seeing. No wonder ‘Kill the Moon’ writer Peter Harness wanted to take her along for the ride.
