5 of the scariest moments in ‘Merlin’

Posted Filed under

We often look back on Merlin as either a light-hearted, humorous show or, on the other side of the same coin, an angsty, heart-breaking show.

However, you can’t deny that Merlin had its scary moments…

Merlin Anthony Head Uther

Ranking in second place is Uther’s ghost, taken from the episode ‘The Death Song of Uther Pendragon’. Even when he was human, Uther wasn’t exactly a warm and fuzzy guy, so you can imagine just how petrifying his ghost is.

As when he was alive, it seems that even Ghost Uther isn’t happy about the way Arthur is (he probably doesn’t like the fair treatment of people or something), this being the reason that Uther becomes an enemy. On top of that, when Uther finds out Merlin’s secret and almost reveals it to Arthur, we are left biting our nails.

Sure, we wanted a magic reveal, but not like that.

Merlin

The Number 1 scariest moment in Merlin has to be the Dorocha in ‘The Darkest Hour: Part 1’.

The Dorocha are spirits from beyond the veil of the two worlds; the dead and the living. So basically they’re ghosts and, as we said earlier, ghosts are scary, so countless ghosts are just horrifying.

The scariest moment from the Dorocha for us is the small and simple exchange of words between Merlin and Arthur: “You’re not scared?” “Oh I am, Merlin. Maybe more than you.”

Just knowing that the most powerful sorcerer and the once and future king are both scared leaves us uneasy.
