As 2015 comes to a close, we’ve picked out ten of our favourite new titles from Big Finish over the past 12 months…
5. ‘Counter Measures’ Season 4
After four intriguing box sets, this 1960s spin-off seemed destined for an explosive conclusion back in July as the stakes were raised for the Counter-Measures Group of Gilmore, Allison, Rachel and Sir Toby. Much double crossing and high-stakes adventure left the team with nowhere to hide.
4. ‘Torchwood: The Conspiracy’
With the launch of Torchwood on audio, and the return of John Barrowman to the role of Captain Jack Harkness, Big Finish will never be the same again. Of course, Jack took the helm for the first story, one of conspiracy and evil alien lizards. A firm favourite among fans and reviewers everywhere.
3. ‘The Confessions of Dorian Gray’ Season 4
With eight more dark tales spread across four CDs, Alexander Vlahos once again shone in Novembers fourth season of Dorain Gray tales. Oscar Wilde would be proud! Not for younger listeners, these stories cover the decades and give us new insights into Dorian’s character.
2. ‘The Omega Factor’ Season 1
Starring Louise Jameson, The Omega Factor was relegated to limbo after one TV season in the late 1970s thanks to Mary Whitehouse. Thankfully Big Finish brought the show back in four tales of horror and the supernatural set in contemporary Scotland. A fascinating start to what should become a great series.
1. ‘Survivors’ Season 3
In its third set of four stories, Survivors picked up threads from the first box set and added new characters who populated four gripping stories including some set in post-plague London. Abby Grant (Carolyn Seymour) was reunited with Jimmy Garland (Richard Heffer) and the whole cast were superb in this compelling set.
