5 things we want to see in ‘Orphan Black’ Season 3

Posted Filed under

Tatiana Maslany returns next month as multiple clones in the new season of BBC America’s Orphan Black.

The conspiracy thriller is back for ten new episodes in the US on Saturday 18 April and is expected to air in the UK on BBC Three shortly afterwards.

Here are our hopes for Season 3 of the sci-fi hit…

Project Castor explained

Orphan Black 3 Rudy (ARI MILLEN)

Season 2’s biggest bombshell was the discovery of Project Castor; the antithesis of Project Leda, an all-male and self aware cloning experiment controlled by the military .

What made Project Castor more unnerving was the fact that we’d seen at least one of the clones before in Ari Millen’s bad-Prolethean-turned-heavenly-husband, Mark, who was last seen marrying fellow former religious extremist, Gracie, who, in turn, is possibly carrying one of Helena’s embryos.

Rachel dies another day

Orphan Black 2 Rachel

Somewhere, there may be a death certificate that lists Rachel’s demise as ‘Death by flying pencil’, but no one wants to believe that the original Proclone was killed by a piece of airborne stationary.

So, could it be that Rachel’s quest for motherhood has led her to the morgue? Or is she now set on revenge and rocking an immaculate eye patch? My money is on the latter.

Cosima does (more) awesome science

Orphan Black 2 Cosima

As Season 2 drew to close, so too did Cosima’s health after Rachel intentionally destroyed Kira’s bone marrow; her only chance of survival. But after Ethan’s death, Cosima suddenly had the key to unlocking their genome, but without Ethan will she be able to decipher the code in time?

Cosima is an excellent scientist, but despite her obvious talents, her mysterious illness is taking its toll which means that she will be more reliant on Delphine and Scott. But can they come up with an answer, cure Cosima and defeat Dyad? It’s a tall order.

Helena gets a break

Orphan Black 2 Helena

Of all the clones, Helena was the ultimate pawn; abused and brainwashed into murdering some of her fellow clones in Season 1. Abducted and artificially inseminated by the morally bereft Proletheans at the start of Season 2, and kidnapped by the military in the finale, Sarah’s ‘sestra’ – who is possibly pregnant – is at the dark heart of Project Castor.

Will she be turned against her sisters again? Or perhaps she’ll get a break for once and be well-cared for? Whatever happens, Mrs S, Cal and Paul know a lot more than they’re letting on.

Secrets and slippery customers

Orphan Black 2 Tony

In Orphan Black, everyone has a secret; Leekie’s body is under Alison and Donnie’s garage, Alison let Aynsley die and Tony’s backstory is as murky as the contents of Felix’s loft.

Speaking of Tony, Project Leda’s trans clone needs to make a return, even a brief one, because we need to know his plans for Project Leda, if anything.

Meanwhile Paul, Marion and Delphine; apparent allies who work for Dyad, have both helped and hindered Clone Club in their own way. Will their duplicity be the undoing of the clones, or the making of them? Or will Vic the Dick and Angela rear the heads and unwillingly threaten the safety of everyone involved?
