CultBox attended a lavish screening of the first episode of Game of Thrones‘ fourth season at The Guildhall in London last night, followed by a Q&A session with cast members Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) and Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth).
‘Two Swords’ airs in the UK at 2am on Monday 7 April on Sky Atlantic, simulcast with its premiere in the US, and is repeated at 9pm that evening.
Here are some of the highlights from the Q&A session…
Liam Cunningham: “There’s never going to be a happy wedding in King’s Landing.”
Sophie Turner: “I’ve read my bits [of the books] – I Wikipediad it!”
Liam Cunningham: “There’s a lot of [cast members] that you never see at all [during filming].”
Sophie Turner: “I’d like to have a go at the role of Joffrey. I’d like to be truly hated.”
Liam Cunningham: “I’d quite like to be Tywin.”
John Bradley: “I’d really like to have crack at Jamie – ahem – just cos he’s such a contrast to Sam.”
John Bradley: “I don’t think there’s much chance of Sam dying of old age. He’ll die of cardiac arrest running up the stairs to see Gilly.”
Sophie Turner: “We had to reshoot the entire pilot as apparently it was really bad.”
John Bradley: [Responding to comments that Sam is too nice for Game of Thrones] “Yeah, he’s in the wrong show!”
Sophie Turner: “Sansa is badass in a totally different way [to Arya].”
John Bradley: “A really big fan came up to me and said ‘Why is Sam still so fat? I just can’t buy it.’ He was okay with the zombies, dragons, a woman who can give birth to a cloud – but me being ‘a bid pudgy’… ”
Liam Cunningham: “[The epic expensive episodes, usually Episode 9] are gonna kick off really early. There’s some large W-T-F moments coming up this season.”
