Why can’t we get enough of Game Of Thrones?

Game of Thrones is so popular that it’s taken over not only our TV screens but also so many parts of regular life. The franchise is about to air its seventh season and so there’s no reason for our obsession to slow down. With a July 16th release date in the USA, and a simultaneous UK release in the early hours of July 17th, we can see exactly how this show has become more than just a pastime to fans all over the world. If people are willing to stay up until 2am just in case they read spoilers on social media the next day, that shows true dedication.

The Plot Has So Many Twists & Turns

First things first, Game of Thrones is popular because it’s just really, really good television. Full of bombshells, cliff-hangers and action of both the gory and steamy kind that has never been imagined before; you could never watch the show and be bored.
Add in fierce female characters in Daenerys “Mother of Dragons” and Arya Stark; hero character Jon Snow, and lots of battles, and the show is culturally relevant and a sign of the times.

Of course, the show isn’t slowing down. Although we know that season seven is the penultimate season, fans don’t have to fear. There are ongoing talks about a prequel, which would probably air in four separate parts. This would take place after season 8 comes out, so it’ll do at least something to calm down those post-ending blues! The bad news? It won’t contain the characters we know and love. The good news though is that writer, George R.R. Martin, created an entire universe, so you just know they’d have plenty of material to keep us hooked.

Getting Involved Is Easy

Okay, so you can’t just up and join the cast but you can always get more involved with GOT on a deeper level. For impatient fans, this is even better.

Gaming is one way that you can take part. Allowing you to immerse yourself in the action is a way to connect with the things you enjoy. For example, Game of Thrones – The Game is a role playing game, really allowing yourself to live in the GOT world. You can even try the slot Game of Thrones. The element of drama so prevalent in the show itself is also present in the game.

Of course, another popular way of getting involved is to cosplay. The art of dressing as your favourite character is nothing new, but these days, thanks to access to the internet and its endless possibilities, there are a multitude of options when it comes to getting things perfect. Game of Throne’s impact on the entertainment world is immeasurable in this respect, but we can see some of the best examples at Comic Con and other conventions.

Game of Thrones was watched by five million people when season six first aired in the UK last year, with a further 16 million streaming it; that’s the most-watched Sky TV show ever. With a 41% increase on the previous year, it’ll be interesting to see exactly how many people watch this time – and what further influence the show continues to have.
