The show drops next month and we have been granted the first clues…
Here at CultBox, we’ve been following the television adaptation of Magpie Murders for some time.
Based on Anthony Horowitz’s 2016 best-seller, this is a high-profile show for BritBox. Known as a home for classics like Doctor Who, the streamer is now commissioning original content. They’re also buying in shows and expanding their international reach.
Adapted by the author, Magpie Murders revolves around the character of Susan Ryeland, editor for the best-selling mystery writer Alan Conway. When she receives an unfinished manuscript for his popular detective Atticus Pünd, it sets her on a life-changing path; searching for the missing final chapter of the book, she’s drawn into another mystery…
The adaptation, by Anthony Horowitz, boasts a high-profile cast, including Lesley Manville, Conleth Hill and Daniel Mays. The wider ensemble includes Matthew Beard, Pippa Haywood, Harry Lawtey, Alexandros Logothetis, Michael Maloney and Claire Rushbrook.
Peter Cattaneo (The A Word) directed the six-part series, which comes from Eleventh Hour Films for BritBox and MASTERPIECE. The show filmed in London, Suffolk and Ireland, wrapping production in September last year.
“A Whoddunit without an ending? It won’t even be worth the paper it’s not printed on!”
Magpie Murders launches on BritBox UK on February 10th 2022.
