Netflix has commissioned a new eight-part drama by the name of Safe, that comes from the pen of BAFTA-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst (who scored his gong for his writing work on Shameless).
The show will focus on a gated community, where a paediatric surgeon is trying to raise his two daughters, following the death of his wife. The problem? One night, one of said daughters sneaks out, just as the family seems to have got back to some kind of normality. That same night, a murder takes place.
Harlan Coben has created the series, and is executive producing. He previously worked with Brocklehurst on The Five.
Furthermore, some impressive casting has been announced. Amanda Abbington, last seen in Sherlock, is taking one of the lead roles. Dexter star Michael C Hall is filling out the other.
Filming on Safe actually began yesterday, and it’s expected to launch on Netflix in 2018.
