Samuel L Jackson is back as the former S.H.I.E.L.D. boss, grappling with an alien infiltration.
It feels as though it’s been a long time coming, but we finally have a start date for Marvel’s Secret Invasion series.
The Disney+ show, featuring Samuel L. Jackson as former Avengers Boss man Nick Fury, is set to land at the streamer on Wednesday, June 21st 2023.
Spinning out of the events of Captain Marvel, the series promises to follow up on what the former S.H.I.E.L.D. leader has been up to as he battles “a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.” Samuel L Jackson will lead the show, with Skrull warrior Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). The wider cast is impressive – it includes Olivia Colman as MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth and Emilia Clarke as Talos’ daughter G’iah. Plus, Kingsley Ben-Adir as resistance leader Gravikm, with Christopher McDonald, Carmen Ejogo, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott and Dermot Mulroney also in the ensemble.
We can also expect a number of familiar MCU faces. Don Cheadle returns as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, as does Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross and Cobie Smulders as fan favourite Maria Hill.
Here’s the new trailer for Secret Invasion:
Giving us a glimpse of that stellar cast, the show’s trailer sets out a darker tone with the emphasis on action rather than special effects. Save for all the shapeshifting, of course.
For those who like to keep track, the show is the first television series from the MCU’s Phase 5.
To accompany the trailer, there’s a smart new poster too:
We’ll keep you posted on Secret Invasion.
