The show, based on Emily St. John Mandel’s 2014 international bestseller, follows the survivors of a flu pandemic.

Despite the desperate realities of the world at present, it seems there’s a continuing thirst for post-apocalyptic stories. Station Eleven sees a devastating flu pandemic and follows its survivors as they they attempt to rebuild society.

Set across multiple timelines, the show will see its characters reimagining the world anew while holding on to the best of what has been lost. Seemingly striking a note of hope, it could be just what we all need right now!

HBO released a teaser in November too:

Patrick Somerville (The Leftovers) is the showrunner for Station Eleven, which has gathered an impressive cast; Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Himesh Patel, Daniel Zovatto, David Wilmot, Matilda Lawler, Philippine Velge, Nabhaan Rizwan, Lori Petty, Gael Garcìa Bernal and Danielle Deadwyler will all star. The show is made by Paramount Television Studios.

The ten-episode miniseries launches on HBO Max on the 16th of December.

We imagine it’s most likely to land on Sky Atlantic in the UK – naturally, we’ll keep you posted.
