Paul Feig’s cult classic series joins the superhero series on the streamer.
Updated 06/12/22: ITVX adds more shows to its catalogue thanks to a deal with Paramount.
Further to their superheroes announcement, ITV are reporting a signup with Paramount Global Content Distribution. While it brings a number of shows to their rebranded streaming service ITVX, the one that’s really caught our eye is Freaks and Geeks.
Set at a suburban teen high school in 1980, the show dealt with “the sad, hilarious unfairness of teen life” and has become a cult classic for those who have discovered it.
Created by Paul Feig and executive produced by Judd Apatow, its ensemble boasts a terrific cast of now familiar names; while they only made a single 18-episode season, James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segal and Linda Cardellini all starred.
If you want to know more about the show, Feig discusses it in his recent ‘In Conversation with’ interview on the Film Stories podcast. Freaks and Geeks is mentioned at approximately 13 minutes in, although the whole conversation is well worth a listen covering Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, A Simple Favor and more.
Other shows in the Paramount deal
Also included in the deal is From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, the Jay Ryan and Kristin Kreuk version of Beauty and the Beast and Jane the Virgin. Additionally, they have all of Patricia Arquette’s supernatural mystery series Medium and Chris Rock’s Everybody Hates Chris.
While it has aleady enjoyed a soft rollout, ITVX officially launches on 8th December.

Superheroes are coming to ITVX – Arrow, Gotham and Smallville
The superhero shows will be available to stream thanks to a new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery.
ITV has announced an agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery International Television Distribution, bringing a few cult shows back to UK households via it’s new ad-supported streamer.
Yes, the superheroes are coming to ITVX.
Rolling out in late 2022 and early 2023, the deal includes Arrow (2012 – 2020) and all five seasons of the Batman prequel series Gotham (2014 – 2019).
Arrow, along with its Greg Berlanti-produced stablemates The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, previously aired on Sky. Meanwhile Gotham, starring Sean Pertwee as Alfred and the young Bruce Wayne, premiered on Channel 5.
The deal also covers 10 series of the Superman prequel series Smallville (2001 – 2011). The show, which chronicles the exploits of the teenage Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his pals, previously aired on Channel 4.
Vampires!
Additionally, from early 2023, all eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries and all five series of spin-off supernatural drama The Originals join the streaming platform too.
Also, ITVX will also be home to the whole back catalogue of the Charlie Sheen/Ashton Kutcher led sit-com Two and a Half Men. There’s still an audience for re-runs of that, right?
Enjoy!
