The Sandman — new cast details have been shared by Neil Gaiman in a long post (which we’ll summarise)
First a reprise from Gaiman:
… based on my comic book series of the same name. A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.
You all know that Tom Sturridge is Dream of the Endless, Gwendolyn Christie is Lucifer, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Asim Chaudhry are Cain and Abel, Charles Dance is Roderick Burgess, Vivienne Acheampong is Lucienne, and Boyd Holbrook is The Corinthian.
If you’ve got all that straight, the image above shows a further twelve additions to the cast: Kirby Howell-Baptiste (as Death), Mason Alexander Park (Desire), Donna Preston (Despair — Desire’s twin), Jenna Coleman (JOHANNA CONSTANTINE), Niamh Walsh (young Ethel Cripps), Joely Richardson (present day Ether Cripps), David Thewlis (John Dee). There’s also Kyo Ra, Razane Jammal, Sandra James Young, Stephen Fry and Patton Oswalt.
We also read filming has started on The Doll’s House, the second storyline bringing in many of The Sandman — new cast.
You can read a lot more about the characters and casting in Gaiman’s blog post.
