The eight-part French sci-fi war drama has been acquired by the BBC, here’s a run through of all the info we have on the series so far:

After series such as Bodies and War of the Worlds, the BBC has picked up a new series which has the potential to be another must-watch sci-fi. Originating from France, The Sentinels has been acquired by the BBC from STUDIOCANAL for BBC iPlayer and BBC Four. Interesting tidbits from the series have been released, including the story and cast.

What’s it about?

Based on graphic novels by Xavier Dorison and Enrique Breccia titled Les Sentinelles, this series will follow the story of an extremely wounded French soldier at the outbreak of the First World War. He’s ripe for the picking for a top-secret military program where he’s injected with a serum which grants him unnaturally good speed, strength and stamina. He’s then allotted to a special unit of elite soldiers, The Sentinels. These morphed men are designed for the front lines, but the more time our protagonist spends in his new life, the closer he gets to a secret which could drastically shift the dynamic of the war itself.

Who’s in it?

The Sentinels stars Louis Peres (Germinal), Thibaut Evrard (Differente), Kacey Mottet-Klein (Last Dance), Carl Malapa (Mortel), Olivia Ross (The Universal Theory) and Ouassini Embarek (Athena).

Who’s behind it?

Guillaume Lemans (Point Blank) created the series in collaboration with Dorison. The directors are Thierry Poiraud (Black Spot) and Édouard Salier (Tropic).

When’s it out?
