13 Reasons Why might be divisive for many, ahem, reasons but it’s viewing figures have landed the adaptation a third season. It was officially announced today.
This announcement comes less than a month after all episodes were put up on the streaming site. It has been said that series three will begin production later this year with an aim to stream the show in 2019.
Season one and two focused on teen Hannah Baker and her suicide, culminating in a difficult and powerful court case against Hannah’s school. Both series have been criticised by some for the treatment of sensitive issues however most have praised the show for its honest approach to such issues.
While it has been suggested that season two was the last we’ll see of Hannah Baker, play by Katherine Langford, the character’s actions are going to have long-lasting repercussions for those who appear on the tapes.
The court case, which saw Hannah’s parents up against the high school that they claim failed their daughter, may have provided some characters some closure it caused more problems for others.
Many questions have been left unanswered, but fans who have been waiting for this announcement are predicting that the focus may turn to Tyler who was last seen driving off with Tony after he attempted to take guns into the dance. His arc was developed well over the series, but there is certainly a lot left to explore.
No other casting has been announced, but we’ll bring you more news as we hear it.
