Doctor Who actress Alex Kingston is revealed to be the partner of Johannes Radebe, who she described as her “number one”, to compete on Strictly Come Dancing.
Radebe, a Strictly professional partner for seven years, performed his extraordinary dance skills on the Doctor Who Season One episode The Devil’s Chord.
Fellow long-time Strictly professional partner Shirley Ballas also appeared in The Devil’s Chord in a dance sequence with Radebe to the 1960s-themed song There’s Always a Twist at the End. Ballas is Head Judge of the 2025 competition, which aired its launch show announcing the dance duos on 20 September.
Other celebrities who have appeared on both shows are Colin Salmon, Lynda Bellingham, Mark Benton, Rufus Hound and more recently, Rose Ayling-Ellis.
When asked if one of her dance competition sequences will have a Doctor Who theme, Kingston, who played the Doctor’s wife River Song, answered that she doesn’t yet know.
“We don’t have a say. We don’t know. And the dancers, the choreographers, they’re the ones that sort of go and make the decisions and I think we just are then told, ‘Well, this is what you’re going to be doing now.’”
In 2018, Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton tangoed to the Doctor Who theme on Strictly Come Dancing.
The first live show of Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday 27 September on BBC One at 6:55 pm where the couples will perform their first dance sequences of the competition.
