Amanda, Anne and Felicity will return for more secondary school age drama in Amandaland series 2.
In news that will surprise few, the BBC have confirmed that more Amandaland is on the way. The show has been both a critical success and a popular hit, averaging 6.4 million viewers per episode.
Spinning out of Motherland, the series followed Lucy Punch’s Amanda into the world of secondary school parenting. She reconnected with Phillipa Dunne’s Anne and the show also brought across the scene-stealing Joanna Lumley as Amanda’s mother Felicity too.

Shifting the action to South Harlesden, Amandaland introduced a gaggle of new characters and saw her attempts to become a lifestyle influencer. We also saw her have a relationship with Johannes (Peter Serafinowicz), a hilarious smooth-talking South African property developer.
Sharon Horgan’s Merman produce, with a writing team of Holly Walsh, Helen Serafinowicz, Barunka O’Shaughnessy and Laurence Rickard.
Co-writer and creator Holly Walsh said:
“We’ve been bowled over by the response to Amandaland and can’t wait to get co-labbing on the next series.”
Sharon Horgan, Co-Founder of Merman added:
“With any new show you put out there, your main hope is to make something you love and are proud of. The extra bonus is that it’s a critical hit. But to have a loyal audience of this size is just beyond your hopes and expectations. The incredible cast and writers, director and production team worked so hard on this show and it’s so wonderful to see that hard work pay off. Special thanks to Lucy for being the most extraordinary front woman and to the BBC for having such faith in the idea of Amandaland from the off.”
