ITV has greenlit a new three-part drama by the name of Butterfly, that’s now set to start filming next month.
Anna Friel is starring in the programme, and she’s also co-producing. It centres on the story of an 11-year old boy who “makes the huge decision that he wants to live his life as a girl”. Tony Marchant has penned the series, that was first announced back in September.
As per the official ITV announcement, “This is a powerful family drama about this life changing decision in a boy so young – how do you decide what is best for your child as you try to support and protect him?
His mum, Vicky, played by Anna Friel (Broken, Marcella, American Odyssey, The Girlfriend Experience) and father, Stephen, no longer live together, which puts additional pressure on Max who yearns for an idyllic home life”.
Anthony Byrne is directing Butterfly, which is expected to land on ITV in the second half of 2018. Pre-production is now underway.
