Avengers: Infinity War: Russo Brothers say Marvel TV heroes were considered

When Thanos brought the world to a standstill in Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel’s TV heroes were nowhere to be seen – but the Russo Brothers have now confirmed that they did consider including them…

At a screening of Infinity War which Collider hosted Joe and Anthony Russo were in attendance for a Q&A and they were asked where Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist were (not to mention dozens of key supporting characters) were during Thanos’ reign of terror.

Joe Russo’s answer was: “yes, of course we talked about all that stuff but you can see how many character there are in the film. It’s very difficult when you’ve got shows that are being written when you’re also trying to create movies that are not happening on the same, just from a production standpoint, at the same time that the shows are being produced.”

“It’s impossible for us to correlate story between three or four other Marvel films that we’re borrowing characters from and then to add the TV shows in on top of it. It just becomes an experiment that would break. We felt that the best way to tell the story was to stay with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Given the film was stuffed to the gunwales with characters already, it makes total sense but it’s interesting to hear that there was at least a dialogue over including the Defenders.

Avengers 4 arrives next year on May 4th.
