Announced back in August was a new psychological drama from the BBC by the name of The Cry. It’s based on the Helen FitzGerald novel of the same name, and has been adapted for the screen by Jacquelin Perske.
It’s a four-part drama, that’s in part set in Scotland, and in part in Australia. The official synopsis reads as follows:
Written by Jacquelin Perske, adapted from the novel by Helen FitzGerald, the four-part drama is a thrilling, psychological drama set in Scotland and Australia, that chronicles the collapse of a marriage in the aftermath of a tragedy, and explores the myths and truths of motherhood.
The abduction of a baby from a small coastal town in Australia is the catalyst for a journey into the disintegrating psychology of a young woman – Joanna – as she and her husband, Alistair, deal with an unthinkable tragedy under both the white light of public scrutiny and in their private lives.
Now we learn that filming on The Cry is set to begin in February. A ten-week shoot is planned, although casting has not yet been announced. More information when we get it.
The Cry is expected to screen towards the end of 2018.
