Behind Her Eyes is a new psycho-drama coming to Netflix in February. If you’ve not read the book, the useful WTF is… video tells you everything you need to know
Netflix’s own summary of the story is somewhat terse, but covers some key bases:
Simona Brown plays Louise, a single mother who has an affair with her psychiatrist boss David (Tom Bateman). Her life takes a strange turn when she later befriends his wife Adele (Eve Hewson), and she finds herself caught in a web of secrets and lies where nothing is what it seems. Also starring Robert Aramayo, Behind Her Eyes is produced by Left Bank Pictures (The Crown) and written by Steve Lightfoot and Angela LaManna, based on the best-selling novel by Sarah Pinborough.
If we turn our attention to the WTF is… video, it tells us: Your new psychological thriller obsession is coming to Netflix February 17. Don’t trust these people, don’t trust yourself. And whatever you do, Don’t give away that ending.
Watching the video, you learn dreams are important, and there’s a strong sense of the lines of reality being blurred. We have some classic traps of nice people with sudden glimpses of something darker and a strong sense of claustrophobia.
If you take a peek at the Sarah Pinborough novel on your favourite book site (others are available), you see it’s been a Sunday Times bestseller and quotes many reviews, including Stephen King and any number of magazines and news outlets. Comments all major on the twist in the ending and it gets good review comments (just under 3,000 coming in at 4*).
If you need more convincing to try Behind Her Eyes, there’s an official trailer as well. As to us, we’re looking forward to giving this a watch starting this Wednesday.
