Bridgerton keeps the top spot

Bridgerton keeps hold of the top spot in the latest Nielsen ratings

Bridgerton keeps a firm hold on the #1 spot on the Nielsens, but for how much longer?

We’ve analysed and digested the latest Nielsens for April 4-10 and after many hours of analysis (OK, we really went to see the new Doctor Strange film) we bring our usual in depth look behind the details. Last week we suggested:

There’s no chance Bridgerton won’t take the #1 slot again net time, and the Netflix data for the week in question suggests we should look out for a range of new entries, possibly including Better Call Saul and Queen of the South. We suspect Mrs Maisel will finally leave the list and will be looking closely at Moon Knight.

Not for the first time we forgot Netflix shows all data, while the Nielsen chart we watch is original series only! After a few mea culpas, we move on.

The Nielsen data for April 4-10

Our usual reminder: this is a few weeks ago, US data and we add columns marked ‘*’.

Bridgerton keeps the #1 slot

Even with half the viewing of last week, Bridgerton is still a long way ahead of its nearest rival. It’s important to remember the Nielsens look at all seasons as being the same show, so this will include a proportion of views of season 1.

What else happened?

The Outlaws
The Outlaws

There’s a good mix of streamers, though in the UK we get Hulu show The Dropout as part of Disney+. The Outlaws has crossed over BBC but made it to Prime Video instead of Netflix where a lot of other BBC shows land. The Last Kingdom has faded already, and it’s a good week for Moon Knight on its second week. Inventing Anna is holding on, unlike Ozark (remember this is a few weeks ago, before the drop of the final episodes).

What are we expecting next week?

Netflix is showing a balance of two seasons of Bridgerton and a good showing for The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. Anatomy of a Scandal may show well, and it might be another good week for Moon Knight. We also wonder if Outer Range will make an appearance Whatever happens, we’ll bring our usual insight!
