The Luther star will act as a mentor to help people with a passion for film to launch their ideas, searching the UK and Ireland to find new potential movie-making talent and original ideas.

The chosen candidates will then collaborate with Elba for 2-3 weeks on a unique short film project – in a house stocked up with Samsung’s latest technology – with their whole journey documented in a television series which will air this summer.

The public will also get to vote for one winner in each category to receive £500 for personal tuition and Samsung technology worth upto £2,000!

Elba explained: “I’m looking for someone that wants to tell a story and inspire others. They might have an idea that they’re not quite sure how to take to the next level. If I represent anything, it’s someone who dreamed big and achieved those dreams. If anyone out there has a similar aspiration, then I want to hear from them.”

How to apply:

Entrants need to make a 2 minute video pitch about their idea and upload it to www.LaunchingPeople.co.uk. Submissions are open until Thursday 6 March 2014. There will also be a ‘People’s Choice’ winner per category, voted for by the public on Facebook, who will receive personal tuition and Samsung products that will support them in pursuing their dreams. The ‘People’s Choice’ winners will be announced on Friday 7 March 2014.
