With the New Year comes some long awaited new television.
Criminal Record has been on our watchlist since it was first announced back in June 2022.
The Apple TV+ show stars the impressive combination of Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) and Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight). Together, the pair play detectives caught in a tug of war over a historic murder conviction.
From writer Paul Rutman (Vera), Criminal Record is described as a powerful, character-driven thriller set in the heart of contemporary London. An anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case — one a young woman in the early stages of her career, the other a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy.
Joining Capaldi and Jumbo, the cast includes Charlie Creed-Miles, Dionne Brown, Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell Moore, Zoë Wanamaker, Rasaq Kukoyi, Maisie Ayres, Aysha Kala, Cathy Tyson and Tom Moutchi.
Criminal Record comes from Tod Productions and STV Studios. The Executive Producer is Elaine Collins, alongside Paul Rutman, Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo. The series’ director is Jim Loach (Save Me).
In a slight shuffle to its original date, the series drops a double-episode premiere on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024. Subsequent episodes of the eight-part series then follow weekly on Wednesdays.
