The cheerleading drama series won’t be back for season 2 on Netflix…

Dare Me, which was a co-production between Netflix and USA Network, has been cancelled after a single season. Despite a good reception from critics, the ratings for the twisty cheerleading drama show just weren’t there, with daily ratings on USAN apparently totalling below half a million viewers over in America.

The show, created by Gina Fattore, was based on the bestselling book of the same name by Megon Abbott, and centred on the lives of two cheerleaders whose friendship starts to fall apart when a new coach arrives to improve their chances at greatness.

Dare Me starred Herizen Guardiola, Marlo Kelly and Willa Fitzgerald, who may now move onto other things. Apparently, though, the series isn’t quite dead yet, with a prospective second season being offered to other interested networks.

The move to cancel the series is believed to be the start of a cull on scripted projects at USA Network, as the industry struggles to move forward during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If we hear any news about the future of Dare Me, we’ll let you know.
