The Netflix adaptation of Richard Osman’s novel boasts a stellar British cast.
With production soon to begin on the movie of Richard Osman’s novel, The Thursday Murder Club, the author has dropped a few further cast announcements.
The 2020 bestseller, Osman’s debut novel, follows a quartet of retirement home residents who attempt to investigate murders in their sleepy English village for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case.
We already knew the names of the four actors taking on the lead roles in director Chris Columbus’s movie.
Helen Mirren takes the role of ex-spy Elizabeth, while Ben Kingsley is ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim. Pierce Brosnan plays the former union activist Ron and Celie Imrie is the retired nurse Joyce.
Now, on The Rest Is Entertainmentpodcast which Richard Osman co-hosts with journalist Marina Hyde, the writer has scattered a few more names. The cast now includes David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Danny Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
When the film was first announced, Osman said:
“I’m so proud of this book, so it is a dream to see The Thursday Murder Club in such incredible hands. From Chris Columbus, to Amblin to Netflix, there are geniuses everywhere I look. And what a cast. I’m pinching myself.”
Filming begins later this month, with further cast still to be revealed. We’ll keep you posted.
