Mark Gatiss moves back in front of the camera in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, Twice Upon A Time. He’s regularly written for the show since its return in 2005 too, and unlike Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi, he’s not strictly departing the programme at the end of the year. He’s suggested he’d be happy to return in the future.
In a new interview with Lorraine, though, Gatiss appears to confirm tha the’s nothing to do with the currently-filming Doctor Who series 11, starring Jodie Whittaker. Talking about the look of her Doctor, Gatiss said that “it’s fantastic”.
“What I love about this, I love the costume – I call it Godspell chic. It’s got a lovely early 70s feel to it, which I really like. I think it’s a fantastic choice, Jodie, it’s a whole new era”.
But then he dropped in that “I don’t know anything about it which is a position I’ve not been in since 2004”.
He admits that such a position is strange for him, but also “it’s nice”.
Twice Upon A Time screens on Christmas Day.
