The upcoming series of Doctor Who will bring with it a change to the format, it’s been confirmed. As had been previously rumoured, Jodie Whittaker’s first run in the show is to 10 episodes long. Those episodes will be slightly longer, at 50 minutes each, with an hour-long episode to launch the series.
The BBC has also confirmed that Doctor Who will return, following the Christmas special this December, in the autumn of next year. That’s around an 18 month gap between series, allowing new showrunner Chris Chibnall time to get his take on the show together.
When we have an exact launch date, we’ll let you know. Filming begins on series 11 of the show shortly…
