Even more tossed salads and scrambled eggs for Frasier Crane in season 2?
News has landed (via The Hollywood Reporter) that the revival of Frasier has scored a second season. The show is based on the phenomenally successful sitcom, itself a spinoff from Cheers.
Frasier‘s new era picks up the tale of Dr Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in his third act. Dropped into a fresh setting, with new supporting characters, the good doctor attempts to reconnect with his past, – most notably his estranged son Freddie (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
Back in Boston, we’ve also met his incorrigible old college buddy Alan Cornwall (Nicholas Lyndhurst). Plus, there’s neighbour and aspiring actress Eve (Jess Salgueiro) and Frasier’s nephew David (Anders Keith). Not forgetting Frasier’s new Harvard boss Olivia (Toks Olagundoye), head of the university’s psychology department.
As well as exploring the character’s later life, post television celebrity fame, the series also treated us to a couple of old faces. There were guest appearances from both his love-to-hate ex-wife Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth) and former radio show producer Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin).
Speaking about Season 2, Frasier himself, Kelsey Grammer, said:
“Fraiser is a love story, and I am very happy we will be allowed to continue it. I’m delighted that our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ are on board for another season, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store!”.
You can find all of Frasier, original and new, on Paramount+. The original series is also available to stream in the UK via Channel 4.
