Frasier has re-entered the building!
Updated 03/10/23: New poster images for Frasier!
With the show landing this month, streamer Paramount+ has dropped a couple of poster images for their newest resident.
The first sees Dr Frasier Crane striking a pose amongst busts of historical figures, looking entirely at home.
The second, a more dynamic image, pictures him on the move in reference to the new show’s location. The series takes place in Boston, returning the character to his origins in the bar-based sitcom Cheers. The previous iteration of Frasier took him to Seattle to work as a radio psychologist, as well as to spend time with his family.
The new look Frasier begins at Paramount+ with a double-premiere on 12th October 2023 in the US and Canada. For the rest of the world, it’s the 13th October.
Updated 15/09/23: Official trailer lands…
As regular readers will be aware, we’ve been following the story of Frasier‘s revival for quite some time now. Kelsey Grammer’s character, born of the 80’s Boston bar-based sitcom Cheers, who went on to lead his own sitcom for an 11-year stint, is returning for another run courtesy of Paramount+.
With the 10-episode series making its debut on the streamer in October, they’ve finally dropped a trailer.
The new Frasier, which is most definitely a revival rather than a reboot (don’t get us started!), brings him back to Boston and into the life of his son Freddy. However, it appears that Frasier’s son takes after his late grandfather, promising a twist on the dynamic which sat at the heart of the Seattle-based incarnation of the show. There, Frasier was often at odds with his curmudgeonly but charming father Martin (the late, great John Mahoney), who was a retired police officer who had no truck with his son’s affectations.
As well as a now grown-up Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott), the show’s new ensemble includes Anders Keith, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro and sitcom legend Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college friend Alan Cornwall.
Frasier returns with a double-premiere on 12th October 2023 in the US and Canada. The rest of the world gets the show a day later.

Frasier – Paramount+ confirms October launch for the returning sitcom
Frasier has re-entered the building!
The revival of Frasier is a story we’ve been following for a number of years, with confirmation finally coming with a 2022 commission from Paramount+. The show finally lands in October and with the date announcement video came a number of first look images.
The new chapter of his story sees Kelsey Grammer’s psychiatrist returning back to Boston – reconnecting with family and an old friend.
As well as having a relationship with his adult son Freddie (Jack Cutmore-Scott), he’ll also spend time his old college friend Alan Cornwall – played by Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst.
Also in the cast are Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Freddy’s roommate, Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David, the son of Daphne and Niles Crane, and Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, the head of an Ivy League university psych department.
Despite their characters’ son appearing, there’s no suggestion of either Daphne or Niles returning. However, we can expect Peri Gilpin’s Roz, Frasier’s former radio producer, to make an appearance, alongside his ex-wife Lillith (Bebe Neuwirth).
The official synopsis for Frasier reads:
“Filmed in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, the new series follows Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfil. Frasier has re-entered the building!”
News of the return date broke to the strains of a rather familiar tune…
The new Frasier comes from writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life In Pieces) and runs for ten episodes.
The show lands on 12th October 2023 in the US and Canada. The rest of the world gains access a day later.
We’ll keep you posted on Frasier.
