CultBox has an exclusive first look at The Sarah Jane Adventures star Tommy Lawrence Knight in Closets, a new gay short film about time travel.

Directed by Lloyd Eyre-Morgan (Dream On, Celluloid), Closets is described as “an unusual, compassionate and ultimately uplifting story, peppered with sorrow, humour and hope”.

Julie Hesmondhalgh and Ceallach Spellman, who played Cleo and Adam in Queer as Folk creator Russell T Davies’ new LGBT drama Cucumber on Channel 4 earlier this year, will appear as mother and son for a second time in the short film.

Closets follows tormented 16-year-old Henry (Knight) in 1986 who is struggling with his sexuality in his bedroom when he time travels to 2016 and meets gay teenager Ben (Spellman), who is occupying the same room 30 years later.

The story will highlight past and present-day issues facing young gay teenagers, exploring homophobic bullying and confusion about sexual identity.
