George R.R. Martin has promised fans that he will finish his book series, A Song Of Ice And Fire, which provided the inspiration for HBO’s Game Of Thrones TV series.
Martin’s lengthy writing process led to a bit of a problem with HBO’s TV series. The network and the showrunners had to decide whether to wait for Martin to catch up, and in the end they opted not to delay. They pressed ahead with the show and overtook Martin’s books, which probably means there will be some significant differences between the televised conclusion of Game Of Thrones and Martin’s written version.
But yes, Martin has now promised to his fans that he will complete the books. On his blog, the beloved author shared this statement:
Me, I am back in my fortress of solitude, and back in Westeros. It won’t be tomorrow, and it won’t be next week, but you will get the end of A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE.
And he also reminded fans that they have a lot more to look forward to:
Meanwhile, you have the final season of GAME OF THRONES coming, and the new show that is not yet officially called THE LONG NIGHT being cast, and a couple more shows still being scripted… and a few other cool things in the works as well.
Winter is not the only thing that is coming.
As we hear more about Martin’s manifold projects, we’l be sure to let you know…
