With the Christmas schedules long locked, broadcasters are already looking to tease us with treats they have in store for January. And ITV, for one, has lined up a new drama from Key Mellor, by the name of Girlfriends.

The description of the programme, as per ITV, reads:

Girlfriends is the contemporary story about best friends Linda (Phyllis Logan), Sue (Miranda Richardson) and Gail (Zoë Wanamaker) as they struggle with the responsibilities that come with being a modern woman of a certain age.
