The first trailer for Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off has popped up online, and it’s looking a little different now…

Maybe we should have seen this coming when Noel Fielding was booked to co-present The Great British Bake Off on it’s new home.  Our first look at the new iteration sees a cutesy cartoon food scream in agony while it’s being cooked – at least I think it’s screaming in agony. Maybe it’s just a decades-old distaste for The Frog Chorus skewing our perception.

All credit to the animators, who did some lovely work there. It’s just a shame there weren’t any explicit nods to Young Sherlock Holmes, but still.

The show is completely in the can now, we believe, so somebody somewhere knows that they’re the first ever winner of the second ever regeneration of the Great British Bake Off. Well done you!

The show returns ‘soon’ with Fielding, Sandi Toksvig, Pretend Mary Berry and that scallywag Paul ‘Dead To Us’ Hollywood in tow.
